Computing Signs You May Have a Virus
summer. Sadly, no anti virus software can offer 100% protection against viruses and malicious software. With that in mind, here are some signs to watch out for.

Your Antivirus / Internet Security Package will not Open
This is quite common. Many viruses disable your real anti virus program leaving you exposed to other threats. Plus, of course, you cannot run a scan of the computer and catch the offending virus.
Your Computer Slows Down Some viruses slow your computer down. Sometimes, they can grind to a halt. If the change is sudden, then open your Anti Virus program and complete a full scan of the computer. It may not be a virus, but it is sensible to be cautious.
Icons Appear or Disappear from the Desktop Have you lost some icons on the desktop? Some
viruses delete them. Or perhaps you have a new icon on desktop and have no idea where it came from.

Your Internet Browser is Crashing or Your Home Page has Changed If you are having problems getting on the Internet and you don’t have a problem with your network connection, you may have a virus. Some viruses hijack your Internet browser or may change your home page.
The Computer Takes a Long Time to Start Up If your computer takes an age to start up, it may be a virus or malicious software is running on start up too!
New Toolbars Appear on Your Internet Browser When you open your Internet Browser (Chrome,
Firefox, Internet Explorer etc) you may see new toolbars appear at the top of the screen. These may be malicious – even if they are not, they are certainly annoying!
Protecting Yourself Make sure you have a good anti-virus program installed.
Malicious software often gets into the system when software is downloaded from the Internet. So, be careful what you download. If there are sudden changes in your computer and you are concerned, call us.
