downs over the past couple of years, but the prospects for 2013 look excellent. It is probably fair to say the 2012 season turned out better than expected, especially in the feature Pro Superbike class. While pre-

season favourite Jordan Szoke did claim his eighth Canada Cup, he never had an easy time of it. New faces Andrew Nelson and Alex Welsh stepped into victory lane, and an ‘oldtimer’, Kevin Lacombe returned to win a race as well. And there were also some excep- tional displays from rising stars Jodi Christie and Bodhi Edie. Christie repeated as Pro Sport Bike champion but had some

good fights with Frank Trombino and Raphael Archambault. Trevor Daley and Philippe Masse emerged as the top Amateurs, even though they weren’t obvious preseason picks. Steve Crevier contin- ued to dazzle in the XR1200 class, and the racing among the Honda CBR250Rs was simply breathtaking, notwithstanding Stacey Nesbitt’s championship success. The return of Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant to the national tour was

most welcome, and along with Shannonville Motorsport Park, Au- todrome St-Eustache, Atlantic Motorsport Park and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park augments a solid core of diverse and challeng- ing race venues. Mopar is back as title sponsor, and Bazzaz and Inside Motorcy-

cles return as class sponsors. The series welcomes Hindle Exhaust and Magneti Marelli to its roster of class supporters, giving the na- tional tour a strong base of sponsorship. Life on the national tour is never smooth sailing. But for the sum-

mer of 2013, the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship should enjoy pretty fair conditions.
