Barritt, who moved to the Oaks of Lake City in Florida at the end of June. MidAtlantic Horse Rescue is moving to the Greener Pastures Equine Sanctuary in Warwick due to Woodstock Farm being on the market for sale.


Timothy Patrick Hofman of Ocean City died on May 29 at the age of 52. He was raised on the colonial Gittings Ha Ha estate, spent some time in California, and returned to the East Coast in the early 1990s. Hofman was a professional pianist, classically trained under Roger Priese of the National Symphony in Washington, DC, and performed all over the U.S. and toured in 24 countries. Hofman was also a lyricist and composer. T.J. “Tommy” Kelly died on April 19 at the age of 93. He was a Baltimore native who ran off to work at Pimlico when he was 13. He landed a job working for Louis Feustel, who trained Man o’War, for three years. In the early 1940s, Kelly left the track to serve in World War II, earning two Purple Heart medals before returning to the track with a trainer’s license in 1945. He went on to create a stellar career as a trainer and was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1993. During his career, Kelly conditioned 65 stakes winner including the 1980 champion sprinter Plugged Nickel. He also won the trainer titles in New York in 1977 and 1980. Kelly retired from training in 1998 but remained a part of horse racing as a breeder and owner. Kelly is considered the patriarch of one of the country’s most prominent racing families.
