New Commercial MultiCyclone The Solution For UK Holiday Park
The Seaview Haven Holiday Park at Weymouth Bay, on England’s south coast, is defined by its water facilities, which includes a heated indoor pool comprising a number of water features, children’s play area and a main swimming pool. However, when the indoor pool facility underwent a major refurbishment project in February 2013, the contractor discovered a ‘small problem’.
“An existing indoor pool was being refurbished and upgraded, but the plant room could not be altered, which meant there was insufficient room to add another filter in order to meet the latest PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group) standards,” explains Tim Bareham, Managing Director of Dorchester-based swimming pool specialist, Cresta Leisure Limited. However, after seeing the launch of Waterco’s Commercial MultiCyclone 70XL at the 2012 Piscine pool show in Lyon, France, Tim soon identified the product as a possible solution to the requirement to upgrade filtration at Seaview. It met instant approval from the owners of the holiday camp, who instantly recognised the benefits that the product would bring. As a result, Tim immediately contacted Certikin International, the UK distributor of the MultiCyclone 70XL.
“The MultiCyclone 70XL is designed specifically for use in commercial pools, and given the 90m³ Seaview Haven pool caters for a large volume of people, this was the perfect solution to address the client’s space and budget restrictions,” comments Tim.
The product, which uses centrifugal filtration, gives the staff at Seaview Holiday Park a break from the intense maintenance schedule, as the system meant the frequency of backwashing was reduced, which in turn not only saved time, but also thousands of litres of heated and chemically treated water – a saving enjoyed by the park. This also meant that the refurbishment came within budget.
“They can now benefit from reduced maintenance, in addition to huge water and

energy savings. The MultiCyclone 70XL gave an opportunity to upgrade filtration whilst taking up less plant room space than another filter, and at less cost,” says Tim.
Like the domestic units, the product is also capable of reducing filter maintenance and is ideal as a pre-filter, thus extending the life of an existing filtration system and media. Since February 2013, when the MultiCyclone 70XL was installed, the pool manager at Seaview has been totally satisfied with the result – crystal clear water, reduced maintenance and cost savings!
“Several guests of Seaview have also commented on the refurbishment, saying the water is lovely and clear and the redesign looks great,” adds Tim. “Which makes for one happy client!”
The MultiCyclone 70XL at a glance: • The MultiCyclone 70XL is the first of the MultiCyclone suite of products designed specifically for both new and existing commercial installations.
• Incoming water is guided by a diverter plate so that it enters 70 hydro cyclones that spin the sediment out to the hydro cyclone’s wall. It then spirals it down to the sediment chamber, while the cleansed water spirals upwards and out.
• It’s cleaned by simply opening the purge valve. There is no filter media to clean or replace and no moving parts that cause wear and tear.

One-Piece Pool Based On Yacht Technology And Styling
Compass Ceramic Pools (UK) Ltd have just launched (a word that takes on a whole new meaning in this context) into the UK market the ‘Yacht Pool’. The one- piece in-ground Yacht Pool is the latest design in the Compass Pools range. Alex Kemsley, Managing Director says of the new Yacht Pool: “It’s a design concept borne out of the fact that many of our pool owners also either own their own boat, or enjoy yachting. This is probably not a coincidence as both pool ownership and boat ownership appeal to those who enjoy spending down-time outdoors being active with friends and family, and socialising in or around water. So the design and features of the Yacht Pool is an homage to that lifestyle.” The Yacht Pool features some very obvious nautical styling cues, from the teak decking surrounding the integral hydrotherapy hot tub, to the polished steel handrails adorning each side of the stylised bow. Even the controls which operate the hydrotherapy jets are based on a pair of stainless steel marine throttle levers. The Yacht Pool features other refinements like multi-coloured LED underwater lighting and a counter- current swimming unit.
