We really do have it all; 10 miles of glorious and varied coastline, the stunning South Downs National Park on the doorstep, splendid parks and gardens as well as a river, rich in wildlife.

The stunning South Downs is the 10th National Park in England and breathes a wealth of natural splendour. It’s easy to access its delights, whether you choose to enjoy it on foot, by bike or on horseback.

Take a walk to the end of the pier to get the perfect view of the coastline; stretching from the Seven Sisters in the east to Selsey Bill in the west. Or enjoy the full length of our coastline by bike. The Sustrans Cycle Path can be followed all the way from Worthing to Shoreham-by-Sea. From here access onto the South Downs is simple or you can continue on to Brighton.

Shoreham Beach Nature Reserve is a spectacular example of locally and internationally rare vegetated shingle habitat, home to around 90 plant species which in turn support a wealth of wildlife including birds, bees, butterflies and lizards.

Just one of the many beautiful parks and gardens offering a green oasis to relax and enjoy is Highdown Gardens; set in a chalk pit on the outskirts of Worthing it’s a Green Flag winner year after year and plays host to outdoor performances of Shakespeare during the summer.

The River Adur offers plenty, on and off the water. Kayaking, canoeing and raft building are just some of the outdoor pursuits on offer at the Adur Activity Centre . The Downs Link follows the river north from Shoreham-by-Sea giving easy access to the Downs and the South Downs Way. Take in the Sculpture Trail and Old Toll Bridge en route.
