48 - The Ranch Sorter**********************************************************************************************may-june 2013
the link Family
My dad, Mark Link, has attended and produced Team Penning events since I was five. As the economy declined so did show life. High gas prices drove us to stay closer to home. We tried Ranch Sorting but never got serious about it. Dad said Sorting was perfect because you could put a show on with fewer cattle than a Team Penning.
We put on a RSNC sanctioned spring series in 2012. I announce and manage the timer. We have friends and boarders that help judge and announce. My mom acts as the scribe/chef, and my cousin changes cattle and runs the gates. Kristi, my stepmother, is the show secretary. Even my brother is riding again, which has been a dream come true. My 6-year-old sister is also addicted. What really blows me away is, everyone gets along so well!
My dad insisted we run 2 pens at the same time. Announcing is overwhelming enough, and I was horrified. Then, we went to Ohio for the Congress Super Sort. I fell further in love with RSNC and the crew. I hung out with Rowdy, watching him announce. I met Dave, Val (who gave me a giant hug!), and the RSNC software genius, Jim. Watching these amazing people gave me the courage to run 2 pens.
We couldn’t ask for better participants. They patiently tolerate all of our issues and glitches. They stick with us through all of our heartaches and headaches, and now they are more like family than friends. RSNC has given us the opportunity to grow together as a family in a way I never thought possible. Although at times it’s stressful, it’s great to have family there to support you. I know I will never be able to express my gratitude to those who have supported us along the way. Thank you RSNC!
Sincerely, Celsey Link Celsey Link
