ROMANTIC GETAWAY (continued) SUNDAY MORNING/AFTERNOON

Give yourselves permission to sleep in and relax for a few hours. Before you leave your romantic weekend in DuPage behind, stop to enjoy a delicious Sunday brunch at the intimate Waterleaf Restaurant at the Inn at Water’s Edge (Glen Ellyn).

SPORTS LOVERS’ GETAWAY FRIDAY EVENING

Check into your hotel and get ready for dinner. Golfers might want to choose one of our four spectacular golf resorts—but, with 50 golf courses in the area, any DuPage hotel would be convenient.

A great place for dinner tonight is Ditka’s (Oakbrook Terrace). While waiting for your table, tour the bar and check out all the great football memorabilia. Who knows? You may even run into “Da Coach” himself!

SATURDAY MORNING

If you’re not golfers but still want to be active, pack your bike or jogging shoes and connect anywhere along our 61 mile segment of the DuPage County Trail System, with hiking, biking and nature trails. Free maps are available on the Internet and along the route.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Lunch on casual fare and your favorite brew while catching the game at ANYWAY’s Chicago Restaurant & Grill (Oakbrook Terrace) or ANYWAY’s American Grill & Pub (Bloomingdale). If the weather’s nice, take a seat in their outdoor beer garden. Have some time to spare? Hang out and play some pool or darts.

Have you ever played WhirlyBall (Lombard)? Now’s your chance! Imagine a game that combines basketball, hockey and bumper cars. The rest of the afternoon will fly by.

SATURDAY EVENING

Holy cow! It’s dinner time already at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse (Lombard) at The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center hotel. Its friendly, energetic atmosphere matches the amiable personality of the restaurant’s late namesake. It’s also a veritable museum of baseball history.

SUNDAY MORNING/AFTERNOON

Need gear? Before heading home, make a stop at the Bass Pro Shops at The Promenade Bolingbrook (Bolingbrook). You could easily spend a day here. Have a Bloody Mary and a bite at the bar in their Islamorada Fish Company Restaurant while daydreaming about scuba diving in their gigantic saltwater fish tank.

HISTORY LOVERS’ GETAWAY Friday Night

Check into your centrally located DuPage County hotel. You will be doing a lot of walking the next couple days, so choose a relaxing activity this evening, such as enjoying dinner and a movie at a classic cinema like the beautifully restored Tivoli Theatre (Downers Grove) or a Broadway-style show in the newly remodeled Drury Lane Theatre (Oakbrook Terrace).
