I was saddened by the
Many of you will know of someone who has used the services of Marie Curie. They have recently completed a major refurbishment at their centre on Frogston Road. I was shown around the new facilities and chatted to staff and patients. The official opening took place on April 17th. What is clear is the absolutely
crucial service they provide to both patients and their families. The staff are remarkable and, on the day I visited, were preparing for their annual Daffodil appeal (dressing up as daffodils no less). I joined them in their new Reception with my contribution to the fundraising efforts.

month, who was SNP Councillor for Liberton and Gilmerton from 2007.
Having been diagnosed with a brain tumour in March 2011, he underwent surgery at the Western
General and, with much strength and determination, he successfully stood for re-election at the Council elections last May.
We worked closely, both during my time as a Councillor and since my election to Parliament in 2010. I recall Tom going all the way back to when he was a local activist on the Liberton Community Council.
All our sympathies and thoughts go to his wife Evelyn and the SNP Group in Edinburgh.
