mary School, Snodland, known as The Kats, competed at the Kent Schools cheerleading com- petition at the Towers School, Ashford, judged by Kent’s top competitive cheerleading team, theMavericks Cheerleaders. Twenty Year 6 girls took part in


the competition – their first out- side the school. Teacher, Kirsten Holt, said: “They worked excep- tionally hard preparing their rou- tine, which was packed full of stunts, tumbling, cheers and

Roman coins on display in museum ANUMBER of the 3,600 Roman coins found in the sports ground of Smurfit Kappa Townsend Hook in Snodland, have gone on display in the town’s museum inWaghorn Street. They were unearthed in 2006, dur-


ing work to prepare the site for the construction of homes. Andrew Richards, the company’s fi- nancial controller, said: “We waived our right to a share of the value of the coins so that they could be secured for Snodland Museum.” However, money had to be paid to the worker who found them. Museum curator Andrew Ashbee, pictured with Mr Richards, said

ST KATHERINE’S Pri- mary School, Snodland hosted the Aylesford and District High Five Netball tournament – and won. Primary schools from


West Malling, Ley- bourne, More Park, Dis- covery, Offham, Borough Green, Ditton, Snodland (C of E), St Mark’s and Kings Hill played each other in a group format. St Katherine’s played Offham in the final and beat them 4-2.
