e cate the song. This is really hard work, be-
cause other people might hear a part differ- ently, and because it's their instrument, think their part is correct or great because they came up with it. But if they aren't the guy singing the song, they really can't make that call. It doesn't matter who writes the parts, as long as they're supportive of the vocal and song, and are played great so the singer can communicate the song to the best of his or her ability. I guess I took the long way around to get to answer your question, but I choose the songs that mean the most to me, and sound the most natural, both vocally and band performance wise. And that natural thing comes from good arrangement and lots of rehearsal.
