Gym club gets permission for Tovil HQ
PEGASUS Gymnastics Club has been given planning consent to establish its headquar- ters in Tovil. The Olympic-standard gymnastic club,

move in at Units 2, 3 and 4 at the Farleigh Hill Trading Estate on condition that activity on the site is restricted to 8am-9pm. JennieTrandaburu, head coach of the club’s Kindergym, told Downs Mail last October that the new premises would be four times larger.

full-time and 10 part-time staff, running 23 classes for 500 gymnasts. Five boys from the club have won 11 medals between them at the English Cham- pionships. Finlay Lincoln, Reece Shephard and Euan
Cox competed in the Under 12 category for the first time, competing against every Under

Euan also came third on pommel, and has been selected to compete for Great Britain in Switzerland in April. Reece Shephard finished in fourth place on vault and was 17th overall, and Finlay Lin- coln was 27th overall. CourtneyTulloch (pictured) and James Hall competed in their first event as seniors. Get a haircut and a cab home BOB Veitch of Apollo Taxis has applied for the mixed use of a building inWeek Street for a hairdressers and taxi booking office. In a letter to a council officer regarding 4 Brenchley House, he wrote: “The building could be used solely for one of the purposes, therefore permission is needed for both purposes. It is not possible to provide a floor plan, as the same floor space could potentially be used at different times of the day for each use. “My understanding is that permission already exists for the hair- dressers, but that permission is required for the taxi office.” Maidstone Council will determine the planning application.
Plea to cut down ‘shady’ trees TERINA Irvine has applied for conservation area consent to fell two trees at Old Loose Court, in Old Drive, Loose. She wants to ground an ash due to “excessive shading and grow-
ing around a telegraph pole” and a sycamore because of “exces- sive shading and growing”. Her application form also asks for permision to carry out work
on two oaks and a fir tree. Maidstone Council will determine the planning application.

Pub cellar plan APLAN has been submitted for a one-bedroom basement flat at the former Rising Sun pub in Marsham Street, Maidstone. Construction is ongoing on
the conversion of the pub into two dwellings alongside the construction of two new homes, which was approved in January 2011. Applicant Simon Ross’s sup- porting statement said: “The proposed basement flat will not affect any of the approved ele- vations except the rear garden elevation, and this will only be by the creation of a light well below ground level.” Maidstone Council will de- termine the application.
