Gemma, you're just back from Germany. What larks were you up to there?,

I was taking part in a group show at the museum of modern art there, with some artists from England & Germany. I made a giant monster with strange creatures in his belly. The show was especially for children. It was really fun & Frankfurt was lovely.

OutlineNorwich Outline Monsters? That's some next level stuff. We're used to you interpreting the more domestic animal. Have you ever met an animal you don't like?

I'm not keen on creepy crawlies. And some humans. OutlineNorwich Outline

You're a Norwich dweller, yet you have done that most incredible thing of being a success out of East Anglia! How did your 'break' come?

GemmaCorrell Gemma

The Internet has helped a lot, being able to communicate with people all over the world and show my work to a larger audience. I'm not sure if I can say exactly when the 'break' came. Selling t-shirts in Urban Outfitters and Threadless in the US helped. But it's just something that's built up gradually. I love that I can sit in my studio in Norwich and send work to someone in china or Canada or... Birmingham.

I was thrilled when I saw your 'Pugs Not Drugs' tee on sale in Urban Outfitters all the way over in San Francisco. Are Mr Norman Pickles and Bella [Gemma’s pugs] divas now?

They are used to being fussed over now and being spoiled. They even come to the coffee shop with us every day (The Little Red Roaster). I think they know that they are my muses, since they're always posing for me and doing funny things.

Your artwork has found its way to some amazing places - the Emirates in-flight mag! What's the most bizarre commission you've had though??
