Spectrum Corporate Finance has completed the disposals of certain trade and assets of the Outside Broadcast division (AOB) of Arqiva Broadcast Holdings to two separate corporate acquirers – Cloudbass Multimedia and NEP Visions.
Winchester-based Arqiva provides television and radio transmission, distribution and media management for the world’s leading broadcasters on multiple global platforms. Its core assets include the UK terrestrial broadcast network together with teleports and media hubs at key locations around the world, comprehensive satellite capacity, multiplexes and international fibre network. Arqiva also provides extensive media services through its playout, studios and mobile broadcasting facilities.
Following a strategic review, Arqiva mandated Spectrum to lead the disposal of its outside broadcasting division, and it was
determined that value could be maximised by separately selling certain contracts and assets of AOB to different strategic trade acquirers.
As a result of this assessment of options, offers were accepted from Cloudbass Multimedia for the acquisition of AOB’s residual contracts and supporting broadcasting equipment, and from NEP Visions for the remaining broadcasting assets.
Cloudbass is an owner-managed outside broadcasting services provider established in 2002. This recent acquisition sees it take a key position alongside Arqiva in delivering to a number of key, ongoing customers of Arqiva.
NEP Visions has over 25 years’ experience in covering the world’s premier events, and has distinguished itself as one of the leading outside broadcast providers in the world, specialising in the latest technological solutions.
Lean management follows merger
Kent-based Provender Nurseries, formed following a merger between Wyevale East Nurseries and East Horticulture, is benefiting from a number of improvements introduced by Gosport-based Lean business specialist Fedden USP.
Customers were confused by the two previous companies as East Horticulture supplied basic landscape needs such as sundries, stone and aggregates, and Wyevale East Nurseries provided a wide range of quality plants from landscape basics to something a bit different; customers were aware that the two businesses were interlinked, but did not understand where one started and the other finished. As a result, Provender Nurseries was formed at the start of the year.
Before the merger, Fedden USP was called in to Wyevale to make improvements to how the business was organised to improve efficiencies and reduce wastage.
interactive Lean Improvement
Workshop setting team problem- solving scenarios to demonstrate Lean techniques and apply the learning. The training sessions included continuous assessment to ensure the learning was imbedded and applied correctly.
By the end of the training, the teams had to produce viable business improvement proposals underpinned by cost and benefit analysis. The results speak for themselves, as the basic project of organising the tool store will save more than 185 man hours per year while the organisation of the order bay is projected to save 1,180 man hours.
Attention is now being directed to reducing waste and the aim is to reduce the company’s wastage bill of £42,000 per annum by 10%.

Richard Burt, sales manager at Provender Nurseries, said: “We like the basic principles behind Lean management and being able to place the responsibility of change and therefore ownership in the hands of the team involved on a daily basis.“
