Did you know: One of the first cinema shows outside London took place on the site where the National Media Museum now stands, in a music hall known as the People’s Palace.


The National Media Museum is an amazing free museum devoted to film, photography, television, radio and the web. It is home to over 3.5 million items, spread across eight floors.


Bradford’s IMAX cinema was the UK’s first. Its screen is as tall as five double-decker buses and has an exciting programme of spectacular large-format 2D and 3D films.


The Museum also houses two other important cinemas, the Pictureville and Cubby Broccoli cinema which host an impressive film programme, from cult classics to contemporary art house cinema.


2013 marks the 100th anniversary of the first Indian feature film Raja Harishchandra and Bradford UNESCO City of Film and partners will be celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema with a range of film screenings, exhibitions and live events between March and September 2013.

Bradford International Film Festival


has gone from strength to strength, presenting new and classic films from around the world. The festival highlights the work of new and up and coming European directors. The ever-popular Widescreen Weekend draws large format enthusiasts from around the world.


Bradford Animation Festival is the UK’s best-loved animation and video games festival and is host to screentalks, workshops and special events led by some of the industry’s top names.


Fantastic Films Weekend is the UK’s fastest growing annual celebration of horror, fantasy and sci-fi cinema and television with classic chillers, fantasy epics, special guests and rare screenings.
