Camilla Hubbard was born to Jade (Elkridge-Harford Hunt Club & show rider) and Jesse Hubbard on Jan 12.


Ryan Logan Molino was born on December 14 to Courtney (Hands on Horses, LLC) and Tom Molino of Ellicott City.

Maryland Will Miss Joyce V. Richardson of Baltimore died on


November 30 at the age of 77. Born and raised in Baltimore, Richardson began riding when she was nine years old and taught riding lessons for nearly six decades. She started her career as a riding instructor at Paradise Stable in 1956. In 1965, she purchased a 60-acre property in Phoenix where she established Dayspring Rid- ing School. An Evening Sun article from 1981 described Richardson’s teaching style as “com- bining the life of a one-room school teacher with that of a cowboy, riding the range of an equestrian school.” At Dayspring, Richardson also off ered a yearly gymkhana, which was very popular, and would take carolers on horseback to Stella Maris in Timonium each year to ser- enade residents. T omas Joseph Dougherty, Jr. died on December 22. He was 66. Dougherty and his wife and were active supporters of the Freder- ick Pony Club. Dougherty loved watching his grandchildren ride and compete. He was born in Pennsylvania and graduated from the Uni- versity of Maryland, College Park. He was a physical education teacher in the Montgomery County Public School system for more than 20 years.


Annalee Marshall of Adamstown died on December 26 after sustaining injuries from an automobile accident on Christmas Day. She was 20 and a student at Virginia Tech where she had recently been accepted into the veteri- nary program. At Tech, she was also a member of their equestrian team. Here in Maryland, Marshall was often seen at the Maryland Horse Trials at Loch Moy Farm where she was a key volunteer. “Annalee was a lovely, talented, smart, funny, hardworking young woman. She will be sorely missed,” said Carolyn Macintosh of Loch Moy. Marshall also rode at the Urbana Riding Club and was an active member of the Help Save T e Next Girl group at Tech. T e group seeks to empower young women and en- courage community vigilance against violence. Robert W. Cole of Frederick died on January 10 at the age of 72. After retiring from a very successful career in the cable television indus- try, Cole owned and operated RT&3L Farm in Jeff erson. T ere, he and his wife Lorraine bred and showed Appaloosas. For the past two years they also hosted the annual TROT Judged Pleasure Ride at their farm. Regina Gowl of Cool Meadows in Jarretts- ville died on January 15 at the age of 87. Gowl


and her late husband Wade trained and sold several get of the famed pony sire Fox Hollow Singing Star from their family farm, including Sweet and Innocent, Miss Gigi, Zim’s Perfec- tion and Swing Along. Other ponies trained to national titles at the farm were Chantilly and Liseter Gold Coin. Gowl did not just specialize in ponies, as several top horses came out of her training program including Li-Ke, Solid Gold and Ancient Line. All of the Gowl’s six chil- dren (Wade, Jr., Michael, Kevin, Tim, Kathleen and Patricia) showed as well, and Patricia went on to be- come a judge while Wade, Jr. is still often seen in the hunt fi eld. Patricia remembers her mother as the “ultimate horse show mom,” keeping the books, taking care of the entries and running the farm business while her father “was the right hand man and best ground man.”
