WHITE HORSE NEAR KILBURN
VALE OF LEVISHAM
Covering nearly one eighth of England, Yorkshire is home to two National Parks, the only County in England to be so, and part of a third, the Peak District. North Yorkshire hosts the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks, two areas of spectacularly different scenery but sharing a common theme of preserving the region’s natural and built history and heritage.
STAITHES
Don’t think for a minute though that the National Parks are all about the ‘old days’. Both National Parks are ever increasingly becoming home to niche crafts and industries like bee keeping and brewing, glass blowing and game keeping. The villages and towns in the Parks are crafted from local stone mellowed with time and narrow country lanes draw you down to visit places that time forgot.
