RATINGS
Whether you want a short break or a two-week holiday we have plenty of accommodation to suit every pocket and requirement. All the accommodation listed in this publication has been assessed by the AA and/or VisitEngland or belong to the Welcome to Yorkshire ‘Y’ Charter. Each listing contains the logo of the relevant scheme showing the star rating of the establishment on a scale of one to five stars.
Hotels Assessed by VisitEngland and the AA in the following categories: Hotel, Small Hotel, Country House Hotel, Metro Hotel, Town House Hotel and Budget Hotel. They must be licensed, offer dinner at least 5 nights per week (unless a Metro Hotel and have all rooms en suite or with private bathrooms.
Guest Accommodation Assessed by VisitEngland and the AA as Guest Accommodation, Guest House, Inn, Bed and Breakfast, Farmhouse or Restaurant with Rooms. They tend to be personally run by their owners.
Self Catering Accommodation Assessed by VisitEngland. All aspects of the accommodation are taken into account when the rating is awarded.
Caravan and Camping Sites Awarded stars by VisitEngland, in the categories Camping Park, Touring Park and Holiday Park, and pennants by the AA.
Approved Caravan Holiday Homes Those which are situated on farms or caravan parks and let by the owner as self catering accommodation.
Visitengland Gold and Silver Awards Silver Awards recognise exceptional quality at all levels and Gold Awards are given to the very ‘best of the best’.
AA ‘Highly Commended’ Logos indicate the very best establishments within the three, four and five-star categories.
Rating Applied For At the time of going to press, establishments showing the ‘Rating Applied For’ logo have joined the relevant scheme and are awaiting an assessment.
The National Accessible Scheme On a scale of 1-3, the National Accessible Scheme symbols indicate a property’s level of suitability for wheelchair users and visitors with mobility difficulties. Please note, however, that as every person’s needs are different, it is advisable to state any special requirements at the time of booking.
Level 1 Accessible for persons with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of stairs.
Level 2 Accessible for persons who use a wheelchair some of the time and can negotiate a maximum of three steps.
Level 3 Independent Accessible to wheelchair users able to transfer to and from a wheelchair unaided.
Level 3 Assisted Accessible to wheelchair users who require assistance (eg carer, hoist).
