Attention all RSNC Youth Ranch Sorters. Big news for the Youth Points Race! Beginning January 1st 2013 there will be a new rule instated for all Youth ages 12 and under and rated a 4 or below. Since many producers have such little time to offer all the classes they would like, and many times the youth class gets omitted, we at RSNC want to be sure that you have places to ride and earn youth points. Therefore we are expanding the youth points race to include all youth classes and all RSNC classes with a class cap of 11 or lower excluding the #11 Handicap. This gives our youth more opportunities to compete for points and also ride with members of their family. It will still be a separate youth points race so youth who are competing in the added classes will now earn youth points rather than adult points. Youth will not be moved from a #2 to a #3 unless their w/l ratio is in the top 75% of all youth when they reach the $1,000 mark or until they reach $1,500. We want to recognize our youth more and make more opportunities to award them for their success in the sport. We believe this will help us accomplish these goals.

Letter From The President
WELCOME TO 2013! The 2012 year ended with unbelievable growth! The number of teams competing in RSNC sanctioned events grew an amazing 45% over the same 6 month period from a year ago! I would like to congratulate each and every member of RSNC for uniting to make the sport of Ranch Sorting the talk of the entire equine industry. It is so exciting to go to trade expos and have horse enthusiasts from all disciplines comment so positively about our sport and what we are doing to help re-energize the horse market and most importantly, bring such a fun competition to the horse industry. They are all on the outside looking in and can not believe how fast we have grown and yet they all understand that the reason for our growth is that we are simply having fun! It is not so much about money and awards or even points. It is about friends and families having fun with their horses in an exciting competitive event. Well, guess what? That fun is contagious and we are now seeing many of those in other disciplines jumping into Ranch Sorting so they can share in the fun with us. We welcome them and guarantee a good time for all!
There are so many new and exciting opportunities ahead of us for this year I hardy know where to start. We have three tremendous opportunities for phenomenal growth and they include breed associations, futurities and even a new awards program called the World Series of Ranch Sorting. You will want to go to our website to see all the details of each as they unfold into our association. Now is the time to get saddled up for what will undoubtedly be the best year yet for our sport and each of you looking to reap the rewards and recognition you so definitely deserve. None of these new opportunities could have been done without your willingness to support this association as a united group on behalf of the sport and now is the time to start reaping the benefits.
Because we have over 17,000 members we are attracting sponsors and support from other organizations like never before. Just this year we have brought on three new sponsors: Total Equine, Wayne Hodges with 4-Star Trailers and Denis Moreland Tack. They will all play a big role in helping us promote the sport and bring exciting prize lines to our competitions. We want each of you to welcome them and all of our sponsors with your loyalty when making decisions about what brands of products you are buying. What goes around comes around, and they are excited to send it around to you first.
Because of our new ability to track horses in our software we have grabbed the attention of several breed organizations that are looking for ways to include their members and horses in our competitions. I am extremely excited to announce partner alliance agreements with the American Quarter Horse Association, the Arabian Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. All three of these great horse associations have agreed to cross sponsor with RSNC to help us promote their horses and riders within the sport of Ranch Sorting. Starting January 1, 2013 RSNC will be tracking all horses and awarding a high money award to horses on behalf of each of these breeds in each state in the United States! Additionally, each breed association has agreed to offer Ranch Sorting at their National or World Finals at which RSNC will be contributing to their award programs. The opportunities are endless to advertise and promote to thousands of horse owners through this exciting program and we can expect many new members joining us in the fun very soon. Be sure to welcome them and help them get started so they can win at their own National Finals.
With the attention of all of the breed associations and cow horse disciplines it is only fitting that we also work to bring attention to the horses we ride. Therefore, we will be offering the 1st annual RSNC FUTURITY and MATURITY at the 2013 RSNC NATIONAL FINALS. There are so many breeders and horse owners who have yet to become involved in our sport and who are wondering how they can participate in marketing to the new demand for horses that we ride. We believe this new program will give them the opportunity to contribute and participate with us in phenomenal ways that will benefit breeders, horse owners and members alike.
We will also be offering the 1st annual trainer’s incentive class at the 2013 National Finals. This is a class for all trainers who wish to contribute to an incentive that will be set aside for horses they have sold or trained to their clients over the years. Jared Lesh Cowhorses has already committed a $10,000 incentive to any branded JL horse in the class. Be sure to watch for details on this class as they become available!
Lastly, I would like to introduce you to the WORLD SERIES OF RANCH SORTING. As all of you know there is a WORLD SERIES OF BASEBALL. Some of you may know that there is now a WORLD SERIES OF TEAM ROPING which has exploded onto the sport of team roping in an astronomical way. We like the concept of creating a stair step competition to a Finals where you compete at local events throughout the year to have an opportunity to crown champions at the end of the year and award them generously for their success.
Starting January 1st, 2013 will be the beginning of the RSNC WORLD SERIES. At designated World Series shows across the United States the Top 10, point earning #3 and below rated riders and the Top 10, #4 through 6 rated riders will be given to opportunity to ride in a 10-rider Round Robin. The winners will not only receive a payback but will also be advanced to the next level of competition depending on the time of year when you qualified. Visit
www.RanchSorting.com for details on qualifications.
It’s important to note that you win payback all along the way and by winning you qualify to win even more. All riders that have advanced to the quarterfinals at the National Finals will ride in a 10-rider Round Robin sometime during the National Finals. Those winners will ride again in the semi finals, if needed, to bring it down to a final Top 10. The Top 10 will run off to determine the final placing in which everyone will win big!
The 1st place winners will win a 4-Star 3-Horse Slant Load Goose Neck Trailer and 2nd through 10th will win $1,000’s of dollars in cash! The details for all of these exciting new competitions are on the RSNC web site. We invite you to become familiar with the rules for each and to take advantage of the exciting things that are ahead of us all in 2013!!
Sincerely,
Dave Wolfe President RSNC
