INSIDE LINE By Jeff Morgan

...but those in the know think that riding socks are a real score and those same people may possibly be seen walking around the house wearing that new helmet.

The holiday season is a special time of year for most people re- gardless of denomination. This is the time of year that we enjoy time with our family and friends. Even though the holidays can be hectic and quite stressful most of us truly enjoy this festive season. This is also a special season for most motorcyclists regardless whether they are dirt or street riders. It is the transition period from one season to the next and the perfect opportunity to ask for all the new gear and replacement parts that you will need for next season. Most riders will put together their dream list of motorcycles and accessories they hope will show up under the tree.

These lists can range from the mundane like riding socks or maybe a new pair of knickers to something much more exciting like a new helmet or tires. These requests will often leave our significant others shaking their heads and wondering where they went wrong. To the uninitiated these items might be considered dud items to see under the tree, but those in the know think that riding socks are a real score and those same people may possibly be seen walking around the house wearing that new helmet. You see, getting these items frees up our money to get the really im-

portant items on Boxing Day, like grips, handlebars, goggles or those sexy new boots that you have been looking at since you got that hole in

the bottom of yours in mid-July.

These are the things that get the dyed-in the wool, two-wheel rider through the long Canadian winters. All of our new toys keep our minds fresh by inspiring the daydreams that help erase the inevitable February blahs. An especially helpful tool for getting through the winter is either a set of ice racing tires or studs for your wheels.

Of course studding up a set of tires and braving the cold is not for

everyone. Some will pull the latest motorcycling DVD out of the stocking and watch it ad nauseaum, much to the chagrin of everyone else in the house. This often results in shouts to the aforementioned significant oth- ers of, “watch this” or “this is the best part.” Luckily the enthralled DVD viewer will probably not notice the subtle eye roll of the person tolerating the video for the one hundredth time.

So put all your lists together and get them into the hands of those who shop for you, because if you don’t, you may get stuck with some- thing for the house, or even worse, a sweater vest. All of us at Inside Track Communications would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. Enjoy the time you get to spend with your family, it is precious. We would also like to thank the companies that have supported us throughout the year and we look forward to working with you again next year.
