School’s Ofsted delight
SNODLAND C of E Primary School has been judged “close to outstanding” by an Ofsted in- spection team. They said:
Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary and they feel very safe. They enjoy school and are keen to learn. Attendance is above aver- age for all groups of pupils.
Progress is good throughout the school and pupils achieve above average standards by the time they leave in Year 6.
Pupils with disabilities and special educational needs make especially good progress be- cause of the support they receive from staff.
The quality of teaching and learning is at least good. Teach- ers are skilled at helping pupils to improve their work through their oral and written feedback.
The excellent leadership of the acting head, well supported by the acting deputy head, means
the school has moved forward during a period of staff changes. Head Pauline Hobson had been on sick leave for a year.
The achievement of pupils, quality of teaching and leader- ship and management were all classed as “good”, with behav- iour of pupils “outstanding”.
The report said: “The acting headteacher’s commitment to raising achievement through im- proving teaching has been key to maintaining and building upon the school’s effectiveness since the last inspection.
Acting headteacher, Holley Blount, who is pictured with pupils, said she was proud the school was still classed as good.
“We are overjoyed that our children’s behaviour was recog- nised as outstanding,” she said.
“The Ofsted inspectors made it
clear how close we are to being outstanding in all other areas.”
