and liberating. Common worries are making friends, overcoming language barriers and adapting to the British education system. For many something as simple as setting up a mobile phone contract or doing their weekly shop can become a daunting prospect due to language and cultural differences, many complain of shop assistants who lose their patience or call centre staff who put the phone down on them. That's where we can come in, we offer a one-stop-shop to our customers, and can help take on any task no matter how large or small.

What Would You Say is the Most Difficult Aspect of your Job?

Having worked for several years as a PA I am used to the organisational side of the job, and don't even bat an eyelid anymore when unusual requests are made. I've been asked to do everything from book flights to Timbuktu to source ethical paint to spray on a cow. However, working with students is different to business men and women and it's been challenging but exciting getting used to dealing with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. Luckily I've so far been spared any 4am calls from students in trouble, but we’re ready for this if it does happen as no matter what time of day it is we're there for our clients.

How Much Does the Service You Provide Cost?

The service starts at £12,000 per year, and for this a student will be allocated a specific account manager and an assistant who are on hand 24/7 to look after their every need. All they need to do is tell us what they require and we will deliver. Students are also given a hotline telephone number for use in emergency situations.

Why Would You Say This is Value for Money?

There's no denying that this is a high-end service. However, for many parents no price is too high when it comes to the safety and security of their children. Our services are aimed mainly at international students. For many foreign students this will be the first time they have been abroad without their parents and this is a scary prospect for both the student and the parent. Our service is round the clock and therefore offers peace of mind to mums and dads around the globe.

What Have Students Using the Service had to Say to You About its Benefits?

Students like the ease of the service - all they need to do is call and we're on hand to help with anything they want. The fact they are matched to an account manager means that despite being in a new and unknown land they have a familiar face which they can turn to whenever they need to. I think it is this personable edge which sets the service apart.

Do You Mainly Deal with Undergraduate or Post Graduate Students?

We look after both undergraduate and post graduate students.

How do you think the UK higher education system is perceived by foreign students?

British universities have a fantastic reputation around the world and for most it is an honour to study in the UK. Internationally a degree from a British institution is held in high regard and is something many students strive to achieve.

What would you say is the best thing about studying in the UK and what is the worst?

We have some of the best universities in the world on our doorstep in the UK as well as some

of the most prolific academics. Many of our universities are also amongst the oldest in the world and therefore steeped in history which makes studying in Britain a truly unique experience. Gaining a visa to study in the UK will always be a minefield for many students, although that aside the only downside I can see to studying in the UK is the weather!

What is the most difficult problem you have helped a student out with?

One of our students became a client after he arrived in the UK – he arrived here three days before starting university and when he got to his accommodation he discovered he had been conned by an unscrupulous landlord. The student had nowhere to go, could not get in touch with his so- called landlord, had his luggage with him and was at the point where he thought he was going to have to sleep on the street for his first night in the UK. Luckily he called his parents back home and they came across our website and phone number online. They contacted us immediately and we were able to sort their son out with temporary accommodation for that night and the very next day we had him settled in a lovely comfortable flat with other students. We’ve experienced a lot of student dramas but this had to be rectified immediately or else the young man would have been sleeping in a shop doorway.

Where can you find out more and is there anyone to call or Skype with?

All information is on our website www.onlystudentconcierge. co.uk for the UK or www. onlystudentconcierge.com if you are looking to study in the USA. Advisors are available to chat at any time and this can be done over Skype if required.
