TOP TEN REASONS TO STUDY
IN MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA College Tourist Blog –

It has been two years since I said goodbye to my family in Philadelphia International Airport to embark on the greatest journey of my life. My emotions were on a rollercoaster ride, the lows of nervousness and apprehension to the highs of excitement and liberation. And now, 2 years later, I can look back fondly on my study abroad experience in Melbourne, Australia. I could write pages and pages about my amazing experience, but lucky for you I have condensed a list of the top ten most amazing things about Melbourne. Enjoy!
Aussie Rules Football: Aussie Rules Football (known as “footy”) seems to be much more than an Australian pastime; it’s a way of life. All activity in the city seemed to come to a halt during the grand final game, more so than any Superbowl. I was able to attend three games to cheer on my team, the Hawthorn Hawks, proudly wearing my yellow and brown striped scarf.
Street Art: I was so fascinated by the colourful and intricate street art in Melbourne. Tucked away on small side streets or major intersections, this artwork was sure to get you lost
in another world of superheroes and monsters. The most famous graffiti alley is ACDC Lane. While I would recommend a visit, don’t overlook the other hidden treasures. Always keep your eyes peeled!
St. Kilda Beach:Melbourne has the best of both worlds: the cultural diversity of a metropolitan city and the relaxed beach atmosphere. Take some time to just soak up the sun or play a few games on the beach. Visit on Sundays and walk through the Esplanade Market, which features local artists selling anything from jewellery to paintings.
Lord of the Fries: Obviously with a name like that, they know their French fries. They also know how to take it up a notch. Top off your fries with one of their classic sauces like spicy chili mayo or go deluxe with the French Canadian sauce (shredded cheese & hot gravy). Can you say delicious? While I wish they would have followed me home to the States, it is probably better for my figure that they didn’t!
Melbournians:How could I make a list of Melbourne’s top ten without including the people that call it
