Here we talk to two of the international students who give us their first impressions of living in the UK and studying at the University of Chichester.
“The Dome, Bognor Regis Campus”
which I had learnt about before by myself but not in class. I’m interested in subjects such as micro and macro- economics, global currencies, product elasticity. Things like that. So I came here and now I’m very happy that I chose Chichester.

What Are Your Impressions of the Teaching and Tutors Here? ML: The first thing I noticed was the small groups. It is usual to have about 10 students in a class which is much better than having a lot of people studying in a lecture. With fewer people I can understand more clearly and if I have any questions I can ask the tutor. So lessons with
Ming Liu
Why Did You Choose to Study at the University of Chichester? Ming Liu: last year I was studying a top-up course at a university in London and I wanted to come to a good environment. I found out that Chichester was near the sea and I
love the sea! Zhang Zheng: I wanted to learn something about global economics
small groups are very useful. I love it. ZZ: Here we are encouraged to speak as much as possible. We learn English so we have an advantage
when we go back home. ML: My course tutor is a very friendly man. Sometimes after class we can make jokes with him. In my country after class with teachers we have less communication but here we can be like friends
Have you had any difficulties adjusting to life in the UK? ZZ: Before I came here people told
me that people here are friendly, polite and well-behaved. They say “please”, “thank-you” and “excuse me” a lot. I remember when I first came here I went to Tesco and I bumped into an old lady. I was supposed to say “sorry” but instead I said “thank-you”! It was because I was very nervous but now it is getting better all the time.
What do you think about living here? ZZ: The environment in Bognor Regis is very good. Last year I was in London and I wanted to live in another city. Here it’s very beautiful
and quiet. ZZ: I like the people here, they are very friendly. My neighbours are very good and they invite me to
their parties! ML: It’s not very busy and it’s very comfortable. I love the sea. I’m going to buy a camera and take photos of the sea and this place because I want to keep it in my memory.
