The training syllabus will teach you leadership skills, discipline and give you self-confidence you never thought possible. You will learn a wide range of transferable skills such as: the ability to delegate tasks; make decisions under pressure; plan and organise tasks and work as an effective team player as well as independently. These skills will equip you for life and add an extra string to your bow at times when competition for college places and employment is fierce.
Simply by embracing the opportunities offered by the ACF, you can get a wide range of qualifications and awards, from BTEC First Diplomas in subjects as diverse as Public Services, Music and Engineering to the Certificate in Team Leading from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM); and from NVQs in first aid to the world renowned Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Most Army Cadet groups (called detachments) meet two evenings a week and there are weekend camps, courses and competitions about once a month. Every summer there’s also annual camp, the highlight of the ACF year when you get to do lots of special activities such as rock climbing, sailing, archery, clay target shooting, abseiling and canoeing.
You won’t be part of the Army, and no-one will ever put you under any pressure to join the Army. The uniform is provided free of charge so all you need to buy is a good pair of boots. Most of the activities are provided at very low cost or even free.
So what are you waiting for? Join the ACF today
