K CEY EADS TAYLOR Buddy was an unwanted lit le Heinz who was dropped off here last year. T is 18-inch tall black and tan dog with a major overbite was our shadow. Everywhere I went (or the kids) he’d go. I train horses and this guy went everywhere with me. T e other dogs would chase wildlife, hunt and go home. While Buddy stayed with me, he only chased if they ran right in front of us. One time he took aſt er a bunch of turkeys. Buddy almost had them, like within inches from their tail feathers. T e thought of this 15-lb pooch hanging from a big turkey in fl ight got us laughing so hard we ‘bout fell off our horses. What topped it off even more—on his way back to us he’d jump straight into the air, feet tucked, turning just his head looking for us just as a fox would hunt a mouse. He’d ride in the horse cart with my 12-year-old son driving over to his friend’s house, or sit just behind his saddle when we were on busy roads. He passed away last month. T ank you for this; it was much needed.
