Malvern Hills District Council NEWS UPDATE
AUTUMN 2012
David’s welcome piece
In this time of
depressing news, it is encouraging to see that MHDC continues to be a “half full” rather than “half empty” council. Despite savage government cuts in funding (and more to come), we are striving hard to maintain our excellent services in the community, and many items in this newsletter demonstrate that we are delivering.

Superfast broadband campaign needs your support!
Malvern Hills District Council continues to work closely with colleagues at the county council and with Harriett Baldwin MP to lobby for the comprehensive roll out of superfast broadband across the district.
Council chiefs went along to the new Malvern Vale development with Harriett Baldwin MP because they are very concerned that the current broadband cabinet is not going to be upgraded to a superfast facility by BT.
By concentrating and focusing our efforts on better outcomes and more efficient and enterprising ways of working, especially with our partners and community groups, we remain optimistic about the future of our district. I would like to thank all parish councils for playing their part in this, and we look forward to your continuing support. With your help we will continue to push hard to make the district a great place to live and work. Projects such as lobbying for faster broadband speeds for both individuals and businesses will help drive the economy forward, and we have been able to improve the lives of hundreds of residents by offering better home insulation, which has made those homes more energy efficient and comfortable.
In addition this edition includes details of recent discussions between CALC and the district council regarding Localism.
I sincerely hope that you find this newsletter informative and stimulating.
Councillor Phil Grove, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development at MHDC said:
“Together with our MP we are lobbying hard to make sure the district gets comprehensive superfast broadband coverage. It’s vital that residents and businesses help the campaign by completing an on going survey - it will provide evidence of the demand in our local communities, giving us more chance to see significant improvements to broadband infrastructure, reliability and speeds across our district”.
Please promote this on a local level, to residents and businesses alike. To complete the survey click here:
