Boost to homeless services funding

From 17th October, GOV.UK will be the new home for government services and information online (formally directgov.uk), being developed by the Government Digital Service (GDS).

MHDC along with St Paul’s Hostel and four other Worcestershire local authorities, has won funding to boost support to rough sleepers in the county.


The £200,000 funding, which has been awarded by Homeless Link, will be used over the next two years to enhance services offered by the Worcestershire Homelessness Intervention Team (WHIT).


New workers will be employed to provide an emergency response to reports of rough sleepers and support those people who have been sleeping rough over a long time to find settled accommodation. We estimate that there are currently three rough sleepers on the streets at any one time across the district.


Name change for West Midlands Councils


At the beginning of October, West Midlands Councils’.gov.uk domain name was changed to wmcouncils.org.uk. The new web address is now www.wmcouncils.org.uk
