orders and community right to build orders. However given the many benefits of community led plans the council will as a matter of course work with local communities to determine whether a community led planning solution would be the better option to meet their objectives.


CALC supports this policy but has asked the district council to decide formally what approach it will take to the spatial planning elements of the plan. We will clarify the council’s position for you in the next edition of the newsletter.


Although not a direct result of the Localism Act there was also a commitment on both sides to see what could be done to improve communications with the district council. How often have you been frustrated that staff at the

district council are using an out of date e mail address? One very practical improvement that could be made would be to adopt a single and consistent approach to the e mail addresses of parish clerks (so instead of the parish clerk using his/her own personal e mail address the clerks would use a consistent format e.g. clerkxxxxxxxparishcouncil@hotmail.com or similar.
