Leonard Abeyta is well regarded for his ability to develop and launch market-ready strategies for mobile content, customiza- tion, platforms, applications and technical support used for mobile devices such as Android and Blackberry Smartphones. Since 2010, he has been responsible for handset road- map and sourcing. Since 2006, the former national conference chair for Society of His- panic Professional Engineers has also managed his own business, Abeyta Group Consulting Services. In addi- tion, the electrical engineer worked on mobile devices during more than two years at GTE Wireless/Verizon.

The senior staff acoustics/base-band design engineer’s respon- sibilities include developing the acoustics design used in mobile devices, including popular tablets and smartphones. Prior to joining Motorola Mobility five years ago, Bernal spent nine years at Sony Electronics, rising from entry-level audio design engineer to senior audio design engineer. At one time, he owned his own top-price audio device supply company that provided voltage regulators. His entrepreneurial vision and corporate success was a direct outgrowth of the graduate work he did while studying for his Master of Science degree in product design and develop- ment at Northwestern University.


Joe Serrano


Digital Distribution Products Lead NBC Universal, Inc.


Seven years after receiving his undergraduate degree, and six years after his master’s, Joe Serrano, an electrical and com- puter engineer, is managing NBC Universal’s movement of its content to digital platforms. NBC Universal, which is owned by Comcast, has cable, broadcast digital, film, and park and resort units in its portfolio. The Cornell graduate is responsible for software developers, products and their managers in the Digital Media Distribution division. For the prior three years, Serrano had worked as a manager of business development at NBC Universal.
