PURPLE SQUIRREL: STAND OUT, LAND INTERVIEWS, AND MASTER THE MODERN JOB MARKET


ichael B. Junge knows what makes for a good resume and job candidates making the most of career opportunities.

In his role as a career coach and corpo- rate headhunter, Junge has helped to place candidates in some of the largest and most important companies on the planet.


Currently an executive recruiter for Google Inc., Junge seeks to distill the intricacies of succeeding in today’s competitive and volatile job market in his book, Purple Squirrel: Stand Out, Land Interviews, and Master the Modern Job Market, published independently through Amazon.com Inc.’s CreateSpace platform. Junge promises in Purple Squirrel to help candidates develop and implement new tactics for under- standing and attracting opportunities and finding success during the hiring process.


He says readers of the book should approach it as a personal mentor and guide, and that it is. Purple Squirrel seemingly goes into every nuance out there for establishing footholds in the job market. Gaining organization sur- rounding career progression is especially vital for new entrants to the job market, notably students and recent graduates, who must get going in an increas- ingly demanding and evolving global economy.


As a key theme in the book, Junge helps candidates explore peculiarities associ- ated with highly intuitive, modern-day job hunting, particularly digital media networks. What Junge’s asks his of read- ers is to consider the roadmap he has developed through the book and then build their own path.

a layering foundation that sets up the second and third sections, which exam- ines specific issues, such as attracting employers, interviewing, salary negotia- tion, building career portfolios, work- ing with career coaches, mentors and expanding professional networks. In Part One, “A Foundation for Success,” Junge ascribes to some of his own experiences, outlining his motivations and successes
