Keeping the heating costs down in the winter W
ITH winter fast ap- proaching and the heating being turned back on your mind may be starting to drift to- wards the inevitability of bills increasing. But there are a few ways you can keep costs down this season. Start by ensuring your house is properly insulat- ed, you can get a free survey to check this and grants are also available of you decide to go ahead with any work. If you have radiators, make sure these are heating evenly, if colder at the top than the

bottom bleed the radiators to remove the air.
It may seem obvious but ensure you are wrapped up warmly enough in your home, putting on a jumper will save you from cranking the heat up.
If you turn the thermostat down a couple of degrees cent off the heating bill. Make sure and turn your heat down if you’re heading out too. But don’t turn it off altogether if you’re going on holiday – a burst pipe will cost you more than a bit of heating.
Remember not to let heat es- cape unnecessarily – if you feel the need to have your heating on make sure you keep all your doors and win- dows shut to make the most use of it. You should also invest in a good pair of curtains, keep- ing these closed at night will help keep the heat in your home.
