They then sit in the pew on the bride's side of the church. The best man remains with the groom till he has handed over the ring, he then retires to sit on the groom's side.
With the conclusion of the ceremony, the married pair, together with the best man, whoever gave the bride away and their respective parents, all move to the vestry to sign the Register. The best man should have in his possession the marriage certificate. It is acceptable for the chief bridesmaid to go also to the vestry.
They are followed by the attendants, the Clergy and choir, then the parents of the pair, their relatives and the rest of the guests.
Photographs are usually
taken outside the church. Don't forget to ask the vicar for permission.
The use of confetti is often restricted these days and it is essential to find out before the day arrives and inform guests accordingly.
In such a case, the ushers must make it part of their duties to police this.
The happy couple leave for the reception first followed by their parents, then the guests. The best man must remain till everyone has left and he must ensure that transport is provided for all those who have been invited to the reception.
Don't worry about the order of service. The presiding clergyman will take you through it, step by step. He has after all, been to more weddings than you will ever attend. If some part of the ceremony is not done according to the accepted rules, never mind, this is after all, the 21st century!
