One of the more charming and nationally followed is that of the dressmaker sewing a hair from her own head into the hem of the gown.
This originally ensured that the dressmaker did not place a curse on the wearer of the gown out of jealousy. If she did, it would surely fall upon her own head as well as that of the bride.
