A SHORT downfall of heavy rain did nothing to dampen the spir- its of the hundreds of people en- joying Snodland Carnival at Potyns sportsground. Earlier in the day, the proces-
sion of floats and walkers had left Holmesdale Technology Col- lege and proceeded along Malling Road, the High Street, Queens Avenue, Holborough Road, High Street and Constitu- tion Hill to Potyns. Katherine Wheel Pre-School
was the winning float, with Clocktower Childcare second. The 1st Snodland Cubs was the winning walking group, with Snodland Brownies second.
The judges were the Mayor of
Tonbridge and Malling, Dave Davis; Rector of Snodland, Rev Hugh Broadbent; town council- lor, Chris Block and the secretary of the chamber of commerce, Robert Beswarick. Volunteers answered the call
from the town council to manage the traffic en route and it passed without incident. There was a fun fair at Potyns
and entertainment was provided by birds from Eagle Heights Wildlife Park, Eynsford, the Red Hill Corps of Drums, the Glend- uart Pipe Band, Silhouettes Dance and Theatre School and Brooks Academy of Dance.
