HARMAN UPDATES VISI APP


Harman has updated its Soundcraft ViSi Remote iPad app to allow control of the com- pany’s Vi Series range of consoles. The new version of the app, which is available from the iTunes store, enables a single iPad to control multiple consoles from the Sound- craft Vi Series or Si Compact range on a single wireless network, letting users input channel levels and mutes.

16 RED TURBO-CHARGES HP Z820


Red has teamed up with HP, Adobe and Nvidia to build a turbo-powered version of HP’s Z820 workstation. Designed for on-location or in-post users of the Red fi le format, the Red edition Z820 is able to take up to half a terabyte of RAM as well as 16 CPU cores, and features dual Red Mag card readers, internal Red Rocket acceleration cards, Adobe CS6 suite installations and Nvidia Quadro 5000 GPU. It is priced at £6,500.


JVC ADDS DT-X TO MONITOR RANGE


JVC has launched the DT-X series of portable ProHD LCD monitors. Designed for fi eld and studio applications, the seven-inch AC/DC monitors offer 1024 x 600 resolution with a 160-degree viewing angle and can display 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p video signals at a variety of frame rates. There are three models in the series: the DT-X71C model offers one HDMI and one composite video input, while the DT-X71H adds two HD/SD-SDI inputs and an HD/SD-SDI loop through out- put. Robert HAIVISION GIVES VIPER MORE BITE


Haivision has released Viper 1.1, the latest ver- sion of its dual-channel HD encoding, stream- ing and VoD system. With the new release, the company has also introduced Viper VF, a companion to the Furnace IP video distribu- tion system. “The Viper was conceived to address the specifi c challenges of institutions that need many rooms to record multichannel content actively at any time, without relying on networks or central server resources,” said Haivision chief marketing offi cer Peter Maag.


OXYGEN DELIVERS HAND-HELD TEST


Oxygen DCT has launched the OxTPG 1000 3G HD/SDI test signal generator, which offers broadcast signal analysis tools in a hand-held unit. Managing director Steve Hathaway said: “This ground-breaking unit is capable of generating all the signals broadcast and fi lm engineers need, regard- less of the format or standard they are work- ing with. It comes with a selection of moving test patterns to test links and monitor per- formance, and users can personalise the unit by loading their own test patterns.”
