1. This Titanic postcard has been consigned to White Star Line specialists Henry Aldridge & Son to be included in their sale on July 28 in Devizes, Wiltshire. Posted on board the Titanic by a third-class passenger, John Rogers, a miner from Pontardawe in South Wales, the Hands Across the Sea silk postcard is estimated at £6000-10,000. Contact 01380 729199

2. A pair of 19th or early 20th century Chinese porcelain fish bowls found in a barn on the grounds of a local country house are on sale at Reeman Dansie’s two-day auction on July 31-August 1 in Colchester. Measuring 18 x 21in (47 x 54cm), the bowls are painted in mirror image in grisaille with leafy branches bearing large peony blossoms on an Imperial yellow ground. They are stamped with an iron-red Dayazhai character mark and are estimated at £6000-10,000. Contact 01206 754754

3. A small collection of railwayana from the estate of the late Stephen Crook, a Carlisle-based collector
and railway photographer, will be included at Thomson, Roddick & Medcalf’s sale on August 2 in Carlisle. The highlight from the collection is this Manchester City nameplate from the London & North Eastern Railway Footballer B17/4 class locomotive number 2871. A number of these locomotives, named after football clubs, were designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and introduced in the 1930s by the LNER. The auctioneers expect it to make in the region of £30,000-40,000. Contact 01228 528939

4. On July 31, Capes Dunn & Co’s Northern Artists sale in Manchester will include Woman Walking by L.S. Lowry (1887-1976). The 10½ x 8½in (26.7 x 21.6cm) oil on canvas is signed and dated 1968 with labels for The Leferve Gallery in London and Grove Fine Art in Manchester. It carries an estimate of £40,000-60,000. Other artists in the sale include Geoffrey Key, Harold Riley, Roger Hampson, Arthur Delaney, Edith Le Breton, Harry Rutherford and Donald McIntyre. Contact 0161 273 1911
