The Importance of Tigers

The tigers burst through the Headquarters‟ glass, frothy-toothed, and soon were flaring in the lobby. One roared at the glass-shard in his pad; another pounced on the camera lens,

and the BBC reared backwards in amazement. Outside, the jostling placards slogan-competed: “Don‟t ruin my dreams!” “Give me a chance!” Across government, the cuts had been severe.

The tigers leisurely roamed the corridors, mauling secretary and security guard, their green eyes, education-jealous: if they had any prey to feast on, it was need of their futures.

Beyond the interior, some had condemnation to do. They hadn't wagered on unanimity of the tigers: The importance of tigers is that they never depart a claw from themselves, a reporter lectured the nation.
