Band of Big Brothers
Comradeship, companionship, friendship, All eyes watching, all cameras focused. Contestants famebound, leaving me nonplussed, Free-floating fools on their Titanic ship. As I cross channels and notice These star-struck idiots in bed, Like worst novel protagonists dead; Dead-end reality and banality device, Watch the drama of confined strangers! Sow the seeds, nurture and grow; Wake up from the reality of this nightmare show. Never has entertainment been so confined and deranged. Has the purpose of psychology and character escaped me? Not when reality is contrived…and imagination free.
Dis-Oprah
Small time opera – downtown theatre. Ratings in millions, not a millionth of interest. Demi-god will not leave the airwaves. Devotees sucked into the gossip game. They hail the hero, the chat show queen, Oprah, Oprah, Oprah – the facile mantra. Like thumb up, or thumb down. Crowd cheering and railing her every turn, Just like the days of ancient Rome. Cavalcade and parade of fools, Bedrock of wealth with proverbial tools. Your American sincerity pays dividends, Dividends of fame and million. A platform for Americans to speak, And air their dirty laundry in public.
