Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society for Counselors Announce 2012 Officers


The Omega Chi Nu Chapter of the Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society for Counselors announced their 2012 officers and inducted 14 new members recently. Mr. Carlton Ashby, Newport News Public Schools Board member and Hampton elementary school teacher for 25+ years, was the ceremony’s guest speaker.

Hampton U School of Journalism and Communications’ Final Presentation of The Caldwell Café Series


Last month, the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications at Hampton University held its final presentation of The Caldwell Café series for the 2011- 2012 academic school year. The guest speaker was Emmy award-winning television news anchor Jim Vance.


Jim Vance is the anchor for News4’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. editions for NBC in Washington, D.C. Part of the team since 1969, Vance started as a General Assignment reporter and moved to the anchor desk in 1972. In his role, he provides special reports on a wide variety of issues, reporting from all over the United States and to several countries, including El Salvador, South Africa and Vietnam.
