stages, they have discussed trips to New York City and ways to get PEF members in the public eye. “Many of my stewards and members


are animal advocates. We’ve been thinking about getting involved with an animal-related organization, such as the Menands Animal Shelter. We could help at one of its events by volunteering for an hour or two wearing PEF T-shirts,” Brady-Murray said. Another idea is to wear PEF shirts


or buttons and help Habitat for Humanity. “Being a new council leader, it takes


time to get these things up and working. I’ve had these ideas in the back of my head for a long time. I feel it’s important to get our members in visible situations to help change the public’s perception of state employees. We will try to do different things. “One person told me the animal


event support may not be for everyone,” she said. “I’m not looking to recruit everyone. One member at a time, one step at a time.”
