Alternative Cancer Treatments Focus of CHEO Meeting

longtime expert on holistic cancer therapies will be featured speaker at the next educational meeting of the Loudon/Monroe Group of CHEO, the Complementary Health Education Organi- zation of the Greater Knoxville Area. Bob

A

Tonachio, a nationally recognized speaker with 48 years’ experience in the field of alterna-

tive cancer treatments, will discuss several holistic therapies rarely mentioned in the main-

stream media. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. May 23 at 150 Rarity Bay Parkway, Vonore, Tennessee. Tonachio says while chemotherapy and radiation tech-

nology have improved, the treatments harm the immune sys- tem and can actually cause cancer if the body isn’t detoxified and its immune system rebuilt afterwards. “Many people are not aware of low-cost, effective alternative cancer therapies,” he says. “The immune system is the body’s front-line defense against cancer.… Typically nutritional supplementation and other forms of alternative therapy help to strengthen the immune system and help the body to overcome cancer.” Tonachio was the director of Medical Services, Inc., and Life Sciences Institute. The Knoxville CHEO Group will meet May 7 at 7 p.m. to learn about gluten sensitivity from nutrition expert Diane Minch. A number of physical symptoms or genetic character- istics can be precursors to gluten sensitivity, she says. Attend- ees can take a test to determine their level of gluten sensi- tivity. The meeting will be held at Parkwest Medical Center Classrooms, 9330 Parkwest Boulevard, Knoxville. The group’s next meeting, June 4 at 7 p.m., will feature a presentation on injury-free exercise.

Meetings are open to the public. For more information, visit CHEOKnox.org. See resource guide listing, page 36.
