The greatest function of the series, notedNigel, is to educate viewers by helping themunderstandwhat dance is; learn simple dance terms and aesthetics; feel the dancers as real people; learn howa dancer develops and choreographerswork; and to see different forms, choreography and companies so that viewerswillwant to pay to see live performanc- es. The show, he asserts, can only do that if it beginswhere the audi- ence is, draws themin through the drama of the showand then brings themto a newplace.One part of that vision is to bring various kinds of exemplary dance to the screen. “Iwant to continue bringing in guest companies likeCedar LakeContemporaryBallet and exponents of dance styles thatwe haven’t seen,”Nigel said.
