NYPBoS and the musical mile M
ARCH 25 saw members from both the senior and development bands take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile
held in Glasgow.
The band were one of a few artistic acts that had been asked to take part in the mile, which was one of hundreds held around the UK in aid of the charity.
On a lovely sunny day in Glasgow, the band marched the course, providing entertainment for all the spectators and competitors that had come to
support the event, crossing the finish line in a time of just under 30 minutes. In the lead-up to the event, members had been fundraising to support Sport Relief and managed to easily reach their nominated target of £1000. The money raised is spent by Sport Relief to help
people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. Projects include transforming the lives of people in
the UK’s most disadvantaged communities and help- ing those living with poor mental or physical health,
as well as protecting street children and providing life saving healthcare abroad.
The members of the NYPBoS would like to thank everyone who donated to the cause, some of whom came along on the day to follow the band around the course. It was the first time that they had been involved in such a venture and hopefully in the future we’ll be able to do something like this once again. It’s a busy time for the band before the start of the pipe band season kicks off for 2012. The begin- ning of April saw the senior band come together
