STUDYING IN
THE UK South West
The UK is the second most popular destination for international students outside of the US. Naturally when deciding to study in the UK many students automatically think of London, perhaps followed by other major cities like Manchester or Scotland’s capital Edinburgh. The attraction of studying in a major UK city is clear. However, the universities in many of the less well known towns and cities in the UK can offer all the advantages of the major cities coupled with a more friendly and welcoming atmosphere. In addition to this, they often tend to have more picturesque surroundings, away from the chaos and crowds of the biggest cities.
In this edition we have selected 4 destinations that, broadly speaking, lie to the South West of London, and which you should definitely consider if you are thinking about studying in England.
Bath
Bath is a stunningly beautiful city famous for its Roman baths and Georgian buildings. Designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Bath presents some of the finest architectural sights in Europe such as the Royal Crescent, the Circus and Pulteney Bridge alongside a diverse collection of museums and attractions including amazing shops, Jane Austen Centre and Thermae Bath Spa.
There is a lot more to Bath than fancy shops and fine architecture. This compact city also has a wealth of cultural attractions, bars, festivals

The university is primarily based at the Claverton Campus, a World Heritage Site which is 1 mile from the city centre. The campus buildings are set in landscaped grounds, alongside a wide range of convenient on-site leisure, social and commercial facilities. The campus is also one of the safest in the UK and has been recognised with a national police security award.
The university boasts extremely high teaching standards which are evidenced by professional body accreditation, national subject reviews and graduate employment profiles.

Bath Spa University prides itself on being one of the UK’s new ‘teaching led’ universities. It has two main campuses: Newton Park (all subjects except art and design) and Sion Hill (Bath School of Art and Design), located just outside the city of Bath, with good bus links to the city.
Most courses are taught as part of a flexible modular scheme, allowing students a good deal of choice. Joint degrees are a popular choice and several subjects can be studied as part of a Combined Award. The university’s academic strengths include: Art & Design, Education, Science, Society & Management, Humanities & Cultural Industries and Music & Performing Arts.
