Boost for waste and recycling
NatWest has announced its support to Dorset-based W&S Recycling by providing £8 million of structured finance facilities to develop and purchase 18 acres of land in Poole to allow for continued growth across the county.
Established in 1988 to manage waste and household recycling sites in Weymouth and Sherborne, managing director Geoff Thompson runs a £23m turnover business, with more than 200 members of staff and 13 sites across Dorset including: Poole, Bournemouth, Dorchester and Weymouth – as well outside the county in Oxford.
The company is known for its wide range of activities and technology related to waste and recycling and NatWest has been a long-term supporter of its ambitions. The opportunity to acquire 18 acres at Poole came up and Thompson approached NatWest for finance through his relationship manager, Dave Humphreys. NatWest has provided funds for the purchase and development of land which will eventually house a modern recycling plant. Ian Burroughs, from the bank’s structured finance team, worked in collaboration with Humphreys to support the expansion against tight timescales.
