George Clooney Linda Mindel Carvell profiles Hollywood’s Prince Charming
The Charmer: always has a smile for his adoring fans
George Clooney has been a Hollywood star for the last 20 years. He made it on TV with ER; he made it in films with Syriana. And now, with The Ides of March and The Descendants under his belt, he has confirmed his place as a superstar. He is not just one of the most handsome
and famous Hollywood stars in the world, but an actor, director, producer, philanthropist, diplomat – and is still switching arm candy every few years, as if he were still 30, not 50-years-old.
Clooney was 33 before he got the break that any actor needs. He got the part in ER, and played it for five years, until 1999. He left the series to start a Hollywood film career, made enough dosh out of the Oceans trilogy to make more serious films, but got it wrong for three years. Then he made Syriana, based on the mem-
oirs of a CIA agent in the Middle East; and Good Night and Good Luck, based on the life of the legendary CBS broadcaster, Edward R Murrow.
