is an energy-intensive process, which is costly in both financial and carbon emission terms.
The "Crystal Clear" repair system provided by Fairdeal minimises disruption and extends the life of the window.
Bobby Kambo says repairing a double-glazed unit uses 32kg less CO2 than replacing it. The repair service is also between 30% and 40% cheaper than replacement.
Problems arise when the panes expand and contract with changing temperatures. This causes the panes to be constantly sucked in and out, said Bobby Kambo.
"Eventually the seal on the window fails, causing 'fog' in
the cavity and condensation to form on the internal surface," he explained.
The repair solution involves piercing the unit, cleaning the internal panes, re-engineering the glazed unit and applying a patented super-hydropholic internal coating, developed by Leeds University, that prevents fogging or condensation from occurring in future.
Additionally, Crystal Clear offers a 20-year insurance- backed guarantee.
