About Us The squad allows elite athletes from across the West Midlands to train together. Aimed at athletes with the ability to compete at national level or, in the case of our younger swimmers, have the potential to compete at national level.
The squad has a large number of young swimmers, many of whom are the only disabled swimmers in their clubs and so are only able to train with other disabled swimmers within the squad. There is great hope that many of these swimmers will progress to compete in future World Championships and Paralympics.
The Story So Far • Three of our representatives competed in Beijing 2008
• Four of our representatives competed in the European Championships in Reykjavik 2009
• We are aiming to put forward five representatives in London 2012
What Can You Do?
We need to raise £65,000 in the run up to 2012 to help achieve our goal. The money is required for travel, pool hire, kit, accommodation and coaching. The squad relies on fundraising and the public’s generosity to raise this money. We are in the process of applying for charitable status.
All members of the squad have overcome adversity to rise to their current level of ability. Let’s hope they can bring Paralympics medals back to the West Midlands.
