Disability Forum is for Service families who have children or adult family members with additional needs and or disabilities. Their conference is being held at MoD MB on 23 May 12 and anyone who would like to attend is invited.

he MoD has disestablished the status
of Official Service Residence and is publishing a new tri-Service policy on the provision of domestic assistance and official hospitality which will save the Department £3M a year.

ewspaper reports say 8,000 homes for troops are being leſt empty at a cost of £54m
a year while ‘thousands of ex-Service personnel are homeless’. Te MoD have advise that: MoD-funded living accommodation within an appropriate distance is a condition of military service. 12.85% is empty at any one time but it is not a static list of properties.
CORRECT CAR INSURANCE TO MAKE A CLAIM?
he RAF FF has received enquiries concerning claims for motor mileage for
hospital visits. For the Service person these appointments are duty, however, in order to submit a successful claim, the vehicle must be insured for Business Use.
NEW GOVERNANCE TEAM FOR CEA

he Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) eligibility auditing role has been
transferred to a new Governance Team based at Imjin Barracks. Tey operate a Helpline service for personnel and family members.

‘Application to occupy Service Family Accommodation’. DIO ask that applicants use it when applying for SFA to streamline the process.
DEMISE OF ARMED FORCES SAR IN THE UK
T
he Department for Transport has announced the start of procurement to replace UK-
wide Armed Forces Search and Rescue with a civilian service and civilian crews. It is intended tht the fleet of Sea Kings will retire by Mar 16.
A NATIONAL MEMORIAL TO THE FEW
Few at Capel-le-Ferne in Kent. The building, in the shape of a double Spitfire wing, will look across the Channel to the French coast.
