Buttered Turkey
This is a simple way to prepare a turkey without stuffing. The secret
ingredient is butter – it enhances the bird’s natural flavour. When the
turkey is done, the juices may be used to prepare a gravy by adding cornflour 1 tablespoon at a time until the gravy begins to thicken.
Ingredients Serves: 10

Cook time: 3 hours Directions
1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2. Rinse turkey and remove giblets. Place turkey, breast side down in a roasting tin. Insert half of the butter inside the turkey.
Place remaining butter in pieces around the turkey.
Pour water into the tin.
3. Cook covered for three to three-and-a-half hours or until the internal temperature of the thigh has reached 80°C.
